Singapore, May 2026 – The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) has taken significant steps to enhance the safety and efficiency of the nation’s blood supply by implementing a state-of-the-art Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) enabled Next-Generation Blood Supply Management System (NBSM). The system is now operational in HSA’s Blood Services Group and across all public and private hospitals’ blood bank laboratories, enabling online blood ordering and automatic tracking of all blood components. This provides the Blood Services Group with enhanced visibility of the country’s blood supply.
This strategic initiative by HSA’s Blood Services Group aims to meet the growing demands of healthcare while upholding the highest standards of safety and service delivery. The key objectives of implementing this RFID system are to:
- Improve productivity throughout the blood supply chain from HSA’s Blood Services Group to hospitals, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the entire process.
- Enhance situational awareness of national blood stock levels to enable effective management during normal days and emergencies.
- Enhance blood and patient safety through better tracing and quarantine of blood components.
CADI Scientific was awarded the RFID-enabled NBSM project following an open tender by HSA. Cadi Scientific, a Singapore-based healthcare technology company, is recognized for its strong track record in providing real-time tracking, contact tracing, and security solutions to hospitals.
